Tarrawatta

The inaugural Shiraz and Grenache release from Tarrawatta immediately secured its place among the icons of the Barossa. The Ambervale vineyard with its south east exposure, red loam soils over deep gravelly clay and fractured rock combine with mature vines to produce grapes of the highest quality. Plantings are to Grenache, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon – all dry grown. Initially planted in the mid-1800s, today their vines date from 1968. Viticulturalist and GM Nick Radford runs the vineyards and the business, with Craig Isbel, ex-Izway and Torbreck, in charge of winemaking. All fruit is hand picked, de-stemmed, open-ferments, gentle extraction and basket pressed prior to aging in French oak. Eden Valley, the Barossa’s ‘high country’ producing traditional Barossa red wines with excellent aromatics, balance and freshness.
