Domaine Joannes Violot-Guillemard, established in 1936 by Joannes’ great-grandfather, has long been a jewel of Pommard. A new chapter began as Thierry's eldest son, Joannes, assumed the helm, ensuring a smooth transition that preserves the family legacy while bringing a fresh energy to the domaine - evident in the updated packaging introduced in 2019.

Over several decades, Joannes’ father, Thierry expanded the domaine, acquiring small, carefully selected plots across the Côte de Beaune. Today, the family farms six hectares, spread over two dozen vineyards, most of which are managed biodynamically. With an annual production of around 5,000 cases. This domaine remains one of Pommard’s most sought-after addresses. All fruit is handpicked, with a focus on quality and precision. Most of the grapes are de-stemmed, but Joannes has introduced a few cuvées that include some whole bunches, adding aromatic complexity. The fruit undergoes a pneumatic press followed by a four-day cold maceration in open wooden fermenters. The wines ferment naturally for about 15 days at temperatures reaching up to 33°C, with pigeage taking place to extract flavor and texture.

The JGV wines challenge the traditional view of Pommard which is known for being tough and rustic and require long term cellaring. Notably, these wines are vibrant, expressive, and delicious in youth with refined tannins. The wine offer grace and elegance which has made Domaine Violot-Guillemard a rising star in the region.
