Founded in 1926 following the marriage of Jean Confuron and Anne-Marie Bouchard. Between them, they inherited a legacy of vineyards from both sides of their families. In 1988, Alain Meunier and his wife, Sophie Meunier-Confuron, took the reins of the domaine from Sophie’s father, Jean-Jacques Confuron. Now, with their son Louis at the helm, the domaine maintains the values of the past while embracing the future with their organic farming philosophy and traditional practices, including ploughing the vineyards with horses.
The domaine is home to an exceptional array of vineyards, beginning with the village level Côte de Nuits ‘Les Vignottes’ and extending through the beautifully expressive ‘Les Fleurières’ in Nuits-St-Georges. The estate also boasts Premier Crus, ‘Les Chaboeufs’ and ‘Aux Boudots’, as well as a very classy Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru and the prestigious Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru ‘Les Beaux-Monts’. The crowning jewels of the domaine are the Grand Cru Clos Vougeot, where the domaine holds 50-year-old vines in the uppermost part of the Clos and the majestic Romanée-St-Vivant from nearly century-old vines.
